Where Crawdads Sing

What stayed with me was that intimate feeling of nature breathing, sheltering, and enduring alongside Kya.

I wasn’t aware that the words could hold so much , I didn’t know that a sentence
could be so full .

Now here is the line from the book , towards the beginning of it , which stuck with me through the very end , because not only is the line eloquent , it also resonated with what the author delivers .

The story , woven so beautifully intricate , fibers of love and mystery , solitude and loneliness , wilderness and civility , all into one warm shawl , which you feel wrapped around you at all times.

The protagonist , Kya , a girl stronger than her own beliefs , takes on the harsh world with her truths , experiences and strengths .

Every page , every nook of the story is soaked and dripping with what , for me , is the best part of reading , the abundance of nature in its full glory . Along with Kya , her marsh , swamps , birds and fireflies hold a special place in my heart .

By the end , I realized that the marsh was not merely the setting of the story . It was almost another character . It breathed , watched , sheltered and endured alongside Kya .

The tides , the birds , the shells , the changing seasons — everything seemed to mirror her in some strange , beautiful way .

And perhaps that is what stayed with me most after I finished the book . Not the mystery , not even the ending , but the feeling of having lived for a little while inside Kya’s world.
