Why Does Life Have To Be Strange
Written at age thirteen
Why does life have to be strange?
Why can’t it be just a simple lane?
Why does there have to be
Cross roads, bifurcations and dead ends?
Why can’t people live happily?
Why do they have to love?
Why do they have to hate?
Why do they have to choose their life mate?
Why can’t we see clearly
The difference between right and wrong?
Why does there have to be a right?
Why does there have to be a wrong?
Why do we interfere with other lives?
When our own is a stranger to us?
When we have ourselves to grip?
Why do we seek a relationship?
Why do relationships have names
Father, Mother, Teacher, Student
Why can’t they be kept undefined?
Vague, abstract but strong
Why they can’t be like shadows?
With no colour, no substance
But an indispensable part of us
Even after death.
Why? Why? Why?
Why do you laugh? Why do you cry?
Why do have to sty good bye?
Why does it all have to be like on a stage?
Why does life have to be so strange?
