I Don’t Want to Go to The Moon

Written at age eleven

Staring at the night sky
From the ground below
Everything looks beautiful
Until you go close
And so that is why
I don’t want to go to the moon
The moon looks beautiful
From the ground below
The moon gives light
If you look from here
But the truth is different
I love the moon
As I see it
I come to the moon
As I feel it
I love to see what it looks like
From here and no where else
And so that is why
I don’t want to go to the moon
They told me,
How the moon really looks like
With ups and downs
Mountains and valleys
Like any other stone
And so that is why
I don’t want to go to the moon
Moon , from here gives me life
It gives me hope
It is my world
It is my fantasy
It is my harmless dream
But the truth is hard
The truth is dry
It is ugly and harmful
It breaks my heart to know it
Why should I know it ?
So that is why
I don’t want to go to the moon
