A Dead Star
Written at age fourteen
A star is what?
A shining stone?
Some twinkling diamonds?
Or something else…
A star is a picture
Of life and living
Of hope and wishes
And of faith and believing
Then what is a dead star?
A vague picture?
In my mind, in your mind
It shines but no life
It twinkles devoid of hope
It lives like a lifeless stone
It is a mirror of the
Truth of our lives today
They run, they live,
They struggle, they die.
No end, no beginning
No emotion, No feeling
Just a race of the blind
Without a deadline
Stop! stop and think,
Take a step back and feel
The importance of living
The power of hope
The magic of faith
And then will come,
Some life,
Some true shine and
True twinkle
In the dead star
Engraved in your heart.
